أحبُّ لحُبِّها جَمَلي ورحْلِي

وعزْمي والقَتادَةَ والطّريقَا

For her love I love my camel and saddle,

My resolve, my guide-rope and the road,

ومَنْ أخْشاهُ منْ سبُعِ ولصٍّ

فكيْفَ فريقُها سَلِموا فَريقا

And whoever I fear of lion or thief -

How could her party be safe from harm?

وكيْفَ أخَصُّ باسْمِ الحُبِّ إنْ لمْ

أحِبّ لأجْلِها إلاّ صَديقَا

How can I claim love's name if I did not,

Love for her sake a friend as well as foe?
