O lamp of beauty, O son of the lamp

O crescent in the most auspicious of mansions

Whenever I throw towards you some passion

Yearning returns me to the threshold

You are my sun so whenever you are absent from me

My day is like the gloomy darkness

O sick of eyelids, you have sickened my heart

So save me for the remedy is in your hands

Are they eyelids that give shade or cups

    Quenched with love without moderation

You deceive people with composure, yet in them

Is the mark of good news and severity of the judge

O gazelle that attacked the lands of enemies

And stirred the steeds beneath the howdahs

To you, O knight of horses, I call

To you, O Antar of ranks, I whisper secretly

Shake off from your coat traces of the withered line

    Of sturdy stature and cohesion

And unsheathe the sword from your scabbard to shred

Each coat of mail during turmoil

O intimate, towards you from me, for I

Do not need advice from you

Heal me, love of my precious beloved

Of delicate physique and pleasant disposition

He kindled fire in my heart, would one deny

A fire sparked from a lamp

And he made me taste the sweetest pleasure so

My eyelashes flowed over my cheeks with passion

May God forgive me, I have come falsely

    With fabricated dispute and controversy

How can I complain of one who is submissive

May God destroy my evil and obstinacy

The nights helped me after the prolonged trials

    And time straightened after crookedness

If you could see me while the night is in full swing

I would say my secret in the heart of darkness

We while away the night in gathering and embrace

    With happiness, joy, and celebration

Take it while rapture rises above it

A bloom crowned with the finest crown

It almost spilled with the cup from what

Its outer garment of glass had contained

I swear by the supplication in Arafat

    And Mina where pilgrims gather

My heart is not content save with your love

Nor hopeful except for attaining your company
