My Master, since I left my home I do not ask
About the length of my nights or the coming of dawn.
Separation has wounded the heart of Your servant, so it is
For leaving You that my heart bleeds in sorrow.
Since leaving You my eyes find no beauty in any place,
No lovely meadow or garden in bloom.
I remain a body without a soul, do not ask
About the state of bodies without breath.
Since Your face disappeared I wander
In the dark night with no lamp to guide me.
But now that I come near to You, my soul is comforted
And my joys return fresh once more.
If my affairs were in my hands, My Master,
I would fly to You in an instant without wings.
