يا مَنْ أدارَ من الصّبابةِ بَيْنَنا
قَدَحاً ينِمُّ المِسْكُ منْ ريّاهُ
O you who passed among us, out of longing,
a cup whose fragrance gives away the musk,
وأتَى برَيْحانِ الحَديثِ فكلّما
سمَحَ النّديمُ براحِهِ حَيّاهُ
and brought the basil of conversation—whenever
the companion offered his wine, you greeted him.
أنا لا أهيمُ بذِكْرِ مَنْ قتَلَ الهَوى
لكِنْ أهيمُ بذِكْرِ مَنْ أحْياهُ
I do not lose myself in remembering one who killed love;
instead, I lose myself in remembering one who brought it to life.
