أَمَلِي مِنَ الدُّنْيَا تَأَتِّي خَلْوَةٍ
فِي مَنْزلٍ بَادٍ خَصِيبِ الْجَانِبِ
My hope from this world is the chance for solitude
in a dwelling in the open country, fertile on every side.
أُذْكِي بِهِ زَنْدَ الْقِرَاءَةِ وَالْقِرَى
رَحْبُ الْجنَابِ لِطَارقٍ أَوْ طَالِبِ
There I kindle the flame of reading and hospitality,
with room for a visitor or a seeker,
حَتَّى أَلاَقي اللهَ لَمْ تَصْرِفْنِي ال
أَوْهَامُ عَنْهُ بِشَاغِلٍ أَوْ شَاغِبٍ
until I meet God, without being turned away by the
fancies that distract me from Him or cause disturbance.
