Though you visit me in dreams,

I know that to be untrue,

I've been sorely tried, so distant from you,

    Yet I endure misfortunes patiently.

My longing and passion I hold back

Though they shake my composure and peace.

A mirage in the night's expanse

Disturbs the beautiful field of patience.

My body yearns and burns for you

When the night's dark stillness stirs.

If not for my dreams guiding me

To my bed, your image visiting at night.

If I wished, I could visit you

In script's folds, unknown lines and prose.

I recalled a past time, long gone,

    Sorrowful, fleeting, yet still dear.

    The breeze raised dark veils

    As stars appeared, circling, urging.

The breeze of reunion blew in the garden of joy

A night of cups and cheer revolving.

Another pact the teary eye made

Of waters and springs within me.

Joyous pacts, time constricted their beauty,

So it envied them, time is jealous.

I question the winds when they blow

To inform me of those who roam afar.

If my passion writes a letter

With my teardrops, the breeze carries my message.

O summer journey that rages in me

    With endless flames and fires.

I turn the month around people

    And days become months.

O heart, do not surrender your weapons in fear

Are they not snarling and defiant?

I have reaped wishes, not out of boredom or fatigue,

One like me deserves boundless blame.

I stripped myself of the garb of union willingly

Though it shone with water, a leopard's spots.

Shall I thank time for easing my love?

I am left without aid in passion for you.

I am not deprived of secret kindness

For many tears have brought me joy.

A letter came from you, no, a garden

I rested in, though your abandonment roared.

I sent the tear from my eye as I read it

Before me, a meadow and stream appeared.

I pretended patience for you though lacking

    And belittled tribulation, though severe.

I delighted in hopes though foolishness

And tired of wishes, vain fancies.

I will leave my reins to the hands of time

    To judge justly or tyrannize.

He who ordained our separation from afar

    Could reunite us, Almighty, Wise.

So hopes are fulfilled, wishes attained

Sorrows healed by reunion, at last.
