وَنُبِّئتُ لَيلَى أَرسَلَت بِشَفاعَةٍ

إِلَىَّ فَهلاَّ نَفسُ لَيلَى شَفِيعُهَا

I was told that Layla sent intercession

To me, so shouldn't Layla's soul be her intercessor?

أَأَكرَمُ مِن لَيلَى عَلَىَّ فَتَبتَغِى

بِهِ الجاهَ أَم كُنتُ امرَءً الا أُطِيعُهَا

Is she more generous to me than Layla that she seeks
