1. أَما وَالَّذِى حَجَّت لَهُ العِيسُ وَارتَمى

    لِرِضوانِهِ شَعثٌ طَوِيلٌ ذَمِيلُهَا

    By Him to whom the deer prostrated and for whose pleasure

    Many long and dangling forelocks were shorn,

  2. لَئِن دائراتُ الدَّهرِ يَوماً أَدَرنَ لِى

    عَلَى أُمِّ عَمرٍو نَوبةً لا أُقِيلُهَا

    If the turns of fate should one day cause for me

    Over Umm 'Amr a mischance, I shall not forsake it
