1. سَوْسَنَةٌ مُزِّقَتْ غَلائِلُها

    أَمْ رَاحَةٌ فُتِّحَتْ أنَامِلُها

    A lily with torn petals

    Or an outstretched palm with open fingers

  2. كَأَنَّها لِلصَّبَا مُلاعِبَةً

    هَيْفَاءُ تَهفُو بِها شَمَائِلُها

    As if flirting with the breeze

    Swaying delicately in the wind

  3. قَدْ رُكِّزَتْ وَسْطَها نَيَازِكُها

    لَوْ لَمْ تَغُلها قَطْفاً غَوائِلُها

    Its buds clustered in its midst

    Had they not been plucked by reaching hands
