O ruins of a palace where I yearn
The dawn has not shone with radiance upon it
It departed though my love had not departed
Surely the beloved is destined to be blamed
O how good is the fertile dwelling
With which an inimical dwelling has become fair
In its corners hopes have become pleasant
As if it were a pillar and protector
While we in its shade are all together
And the meadow of our hopes intimate
And to me by decree of love a kinsman
As if he were a gentle breeze
So today there is no vast expanse
To cover it, nor intimate friend to have mercy
