1. تهادت أهيل الأبرقين المراحل

    وأقوت خيام منهم ومنازل

    The caravans of Al-Abraq departed in succession

    And I strengthened their tents and dwellings

  2. ولا قلب مذسار الموادع وادع

    ولا عيش مذ طال التفرق طائل

    No heart since the farewells has been joyous

    Nor has life been good since the separation became prolonged

  3. خليلى عوجابى على رسم منزل

    له في قلوب العاشقين منازل

    My friend turned towards the abode

    He has dwellings in the hearts of lovers

  4. فشأنى أني فيه من بعد أهله

    أسيل دموعي عنده وأسائل

    It is my way that after his family

    I shed my tears before him and implore

  5. واني لأعطى الحب فى كل حالة

    رضاه ودع تغضب عليّ العواذل

    And I always give love in any case

    His consent though the beauties frown at me

  6. أمنعرج الوادى الذى بان أهله

    فواديه من ماء الصبابة سائل

    Shall I ascend the valley whose people departed?

    Its valleys overflow with youthful waters

  7. بعيشك هل عيش اللقاء معاود

    يعود به ذاك الخليط المزايل

    In your life, does the life of reunion recur

    Restored by that transient mixture?

  8. وأين مضى برد الاصائل والضحا

    فقد هجرت فيك الضحى والاصائل

    And where did the coolness of the dawns and early nights go?

    You abandoned me at dawn and at the early nights

  9. وقد كان عهدى بالمناهل عذبة

    فقد أملحت لي منذ بانوا المناهل

    My encounter with the springs used to be sweet

    Since they appeared, the springs turned brackish for me

  10. ويا جو نادى الابرقين كذا فكن

    فؤادك خفاق ودمعك هاطل

    O breeze that called out to Al-Abraq, so be

    A throbbing heart and pouring tears

  11. ويا عذبات الرند ما بين رامة

    وسلع متى مرت بكن الرواحل

    O sweet well-trodden roads between Rama

    And Sala', when did the traveling women pass you?

  12. شموس ضحى أجرى الدموع غروبها

    بدور دجى أبراجهن المنازل

    Suns of morning whose tears flowed at sunset

    In the houses of dusk whose mansions are dark

  13. رياض جمال كللتها يد الحيا

    غصون نقى هاجت عليها البلابل

    Gardens of beauty crowned by the hand of life

    Branches of sincerity stirred by nightingales

  14. جآذر حسن حازها دون سربها

    برغمى من أيدى الفراق حبائل

    Roots of beauty seized without their thicket

    Despite the hands of separation and its fetters

  15. وعزوا الى أن لم تصلهم رسائلى

    ولو وصلت ما أقنعتنى الرسائل

    And they blamed me when my letters did not reach them

    Even if they arrived, the letters would not have convinced me

  16. أملاك أمرى أننى متوسل

    بانى من كل الرسائل عاطل

    I implore that I am deprived

    Of all letters and without communication

  17. وان حياتى أن أموت بحبكم

    وعيشي في أن الضنى لي منازل

    And that my life is to die loving you

    And my living is that suffering is my dwelling

  18. وبر فؤادى أن يذوب بحره

    وراحة طرفى أن يرى وهو هامل

    The righteousness of my heart is to melt in its sea

    And the comfort of my eyes is to look while confused

  19. خليلى قد اقترت من طيب وصلهم

    وعندى من الشوق الأليم حواصل

    My friend, I have picked some of the scent of their presence

    And I have burning yearning as my entertainment

  20. تعلّل بأخبار الزمان الذى مضى

    اذ العيش غض والحبيب مواصل

    Preoccupied with news of times gone by

    While life is harsh and the loved one corresponded

  21. وساعة اخذ العهد اذ أنا عاشق

    هناك ومعشوق ومصغ وقائل

    And the hour when I gave my vow as a lover

    There, and as the loved, listening and speaking

  22. وما بيننا إذ ذاك شيء مكدّرٌ

    وما بيننا الا الهوى والتواصل

    And between us then there was something disturbing

    And between us only passion and communication

  23. وخذ من حديث يستريح لحسنه

    فؤاد الفتى العاني وتسلى الثواكل

    And take from a talk whose beauty comforts

    The heart of the lovesick youth and consoles the spurned

  24. أبو الفقراء نجل أنصار أحمد

    عليه تحيات الكرام تواصل

    Abu Al-Fuqara’, the son of the supporters of Ahmed

    Upon him the greetings of the generous continually

  25. ففي يومه بالجود يحيى خلائقا

    وفي اليل يحيى الليل والبدر آفل

    So in his day through generosity he gives life to creatures

    And at night he gives life to the night and the waning moon

  26. وذا شأنه فى كل يوم وليلة

    مدى الدهر لا ينسى ولا يتكامل

    And that is his way every day and night

    For all time, never forgotten nor ceasing
