  1. زد علا ما لحده من تناه

    آمنا آمراً على الدهر ناه

    Increase what has reached its extent of thinness

    We lived safely, commanding time

  2. وابق ما عاد كل عيد سعيداً

    زاهداً زاهر الفضائل زاه

    And remain after every feast has passed

    Ascetic, blossoming with virtues, glorious

  3. تنحر النوق والشاة والاعدا

    ولو كان فذهم كالشاه

    Slaughtering camels, sheep and lambs

    Even if their minds were like that of a king

  4. يا عديم الشبيه في الجود

    والأشباح منها عديمة الأشباه

    O peerless in generosity

    And ghosts are peerless in likeness

  5. طالما نمت بالخمول وقد آن

    برؤياك يا نبيه انتباهي

    Long have I slept in laziness, and now is the time

    With your vision, O intelligent one, I awaken

  6. وتضرعت للأله وطرفي

    ساهر سامر الكواكب ساد

    And I implored God, my eyes

    Awake, conversing with stars, joyful

  7. بدعاء كابدته باجتهاد

    واشتهار له بغير اشتباه

    With a prayer I persevered in

    And broadcasting it without doubt

  8. فأراني الآله فيك الذي أملت

    فضلا ولم أكن باللاهي

    So God showed me you, whom I hoped

    For grace, and I was not heedless

  9. فله الحمد دائما ولك المدح منا

    من خصائص الأفواه

    So praise be to Him always, and praise from us to you

    From the traits of mouths

  10. فلأنت الذي تروق الدواعي

    ولأنت الذي تروع الدواهي

    For you make wishes pleasant

    And you deter evil wishes

  11. شيد العدل منك كل محل

    داثر واهن الدعائم واه

    Justice has strengthened every position from you

    Tottering, pillars weak

  12. ومحا آه من أناس بها

    فاهو الظلم في بلدة الأواه

    And erased the pain of people in it

    For injustice is darkness in the land of confusion

  13. يا كريم الآباء والأسم والأفعال

    والأمر والعلا والجاه

    O generous in forefathers, name and deeds

    And command, elevation and glory

  14. عفت إلا نداك بي فاصطنعني

    بجميل به جميلا أضاهي

    I asked none but you, so favor me

    With a favor that equals it

  15. وإذا اخترتني نموت على النامي

    وأزهو على افتخار الزاهي

    And if you choose me, we die for the sleeping

    And I glory in the pride of the boastful

  16. مقصدي منك لا سواك

    وللاشراف نفس قليلة الاشراه

    My goal is none but you

    And the high-minded have little ambition

  17. ولو أني أرجو سواك تيممت

    صعيداً قريب مجرى المياه

    And if I sought other than you, I would have headed

    To a nearby plain, course of waters

  18. فاسلم الدهر إنني لك عبد

    أنا واللَه صادق واللَه

    So surrender, as I am your servant

    By God, truthful - by God
