1. نفيس أماني القلب والعين والنفس

    منال ليالي الأنس من ظبية الأنس

    My soul's wishes, my heart's and eyes' delight

    Are the nights of intimacy with a lovely gazelle

  2. ظفرت على حكم المنى بمنائها

    وحاولت منها صحتي وبها نكسي

    I gained what I wished for from her

    And tried through her to regain my health, but it brought me down

  3. اسيلة خد اوجست اذ لمسته

    به خيفةً من ان يذوب من اللمس

    Her soft cheek, when I touched it

    Fearing it would melt from the touch

  4. عرست به ورد الحياء بنظرة

    وقبلته كيما أنال جنا غرسي

    I married her, the rose of modesty, with a glance

    And kissed her so I could attain my heart's desire

  5. وان لذيذ الحسن يؤكل بالمنى

    ولميك مثل الاكل يمضغ بالضرس

    The sweetness of beauty is consumed through wishing

    And nothing is like eating, chewed by molars

  6. وما ضمنه إلا التفرق غصة

    وليست بحلقومي ولكن في حسي

    What is destined is only the agony of separation

    Not in my throat but in my perceptions

  7. ومن لي بدهر لا يخون ولم ابت

    ارجى بها عيشي وازجي له عني

    And who do I have that won't betray

    I hoped through her for my livelihood and looked to her

  8. بجد ويسعى في القطيعة جهده

    لجهدي فيومي فيه اخسر من امسي

    Seriously, and he spends all his effort

    On separating us, so my days with him are worse than my yesterdays

  9. به أظلمت أيامنا وتظلمت

    بنونا وأهلونا من الطالع النحس

    Through him our days grew dark and our

    Children, family and loved ones unlucky

  10. عسى شمس دين اللَه يسعدنا فقد

    كتبنا بهذا الوفق في شرف الشمس

    May the sun of God's religion make us happy

    We have been decreed this divine coincidence

  11. ولو لم أخف منه هلاكي رقمته

    بأسود طرف العين فضلا عن النفس

    And if I did not fear it would destroy me I would trace him

    With the black of my eyes, let alone my soul

  12. فقد جل قدراً عن مدادي مديحه

    وعن قلمي والكف والسطر والطرس

    For he is too noble for my praises describing him

    And for my pen, palm, line or paper

  13. إمام إذا استنجدته في ملمة

    أتاك إمام السيف يقدم والترس

    An Imam, if you seek his help in adversity

    The Imam of the sword comes to you advancing with his shield

  14. بأوضح من صبح وانجح من حيا

    وارجح من هضب وافصح من قس

    Clearer than the dawn, more successful than life

    More reliable than a plateau, more eloquent than poetry

  15. ليبعد من ضرو يسعد من شقا

    وينجد من بؤس وينقذ من حبس

    To drive away harm, make happy those in misery

    Save those imprisoned, deliver those in distress

  16. ويصرف من هم ويسعف من اذى

    وينصف من ظلم ويكشف من لبس

    Relieve those in anxiety, aid those in pain

    Give justice to the oppressed, clarify what is obscure

  17. أمولاي يا شمس الهداية والعلا

    ليهنك ما اولاك ذو العرشي والكرسي

    My Master, O sun of guidance and sublimeness

    May He who owns the Throne and Chair give you joy

  18. مواهب فضل در ضرع نعيمها

    على حلب والشام والغور والقدس

    The overflowing gifts of His grace

    Upon Aleppo, Damascus, the Ghor and Jerusalem

  19. تفقهت في علم القراءة يافعا

    وفقهت أرباب المدارس والدرس

    You gained understanding, O active one, in Qur'anic recitation

    And gave jurisprudence to the teachers and students of law

  20. فصرنا نرى في دهر نامنك عاصما

    لنا وابن عمرو وان كان في الرمس

    So we see in your just age, protector for us

    Ibn Amr, though he was among the conventional

  21. ولم نر علماً لم تكن منه وافقاً

    على اصله والفرع والنوع والجنس

    We have seen no knowledge you were not concordant with In its principles, branches, categories and genres
