1. أراحمة قلبي وقد شفني الصبر

    فدنياك لولا الصبر ما عرف الحر

    My heart is merciful though patience has healed me,

    For without patience, your world would not know freedom.

  2. اجدَّك لا تضحين إلا جذوعة

    عليَّ وهل يخفي لجازعة سر

    I find you only sacrifice the brave,

    While could a secret remain hidden from the resolute?

  3. يشرك ان الفى خليا من العنا

    ودون ابتغاء النفع يحتمل الضر

    Join me, for the loyal have nothing to fear,

    And the selfless will withstand adversity.

  4. همومي على نيل المعالي كهمتي

    وان ابت الدنيا فقد وضح العذر

    My aspirations to glory torment me,

    Though the world grows dark, my cause is still clear.

  5. ولو عقلت القت الي زمامها

    ولكنها الخرقاء ليس لها حجر

    If it had any sense, it would take the reins,

    But this broken thing, it has no guiding star.

  6. ذريني أجوب البيد حتى ابيدها

    فقد طال بي عزمي وان قصر العمر

    Let me roam the wasteland until it lays waste,

    My resolve is hardened, though my years run short.

  7. على متن موار الأعنة اشقر

    كشعلة لون التبران سبك التبر

    Upon a steed, white as camphor, smooth as silk,

    With a white blaze, glorying like the full moon's light upon his rosy face.

  8. له شية بيضاء تزهو كأنها

    على وجهه الوردي في شفق بدر

    I and the ruins are one in our sighs,

    As passion and hearts fall to time and the wilderness.

  9. كاني والأطلال عين وعبرة

    ومس الهوى والقلب أيديه والقفر

    I wander these lands, resigned,

    Though unease stirs when the cliff face looms.

  10. اجول بهاتيك الديار مسلما

    ويبدي اضطرابا عند وثبته الصخر

    As if the ruins, the wells and the tents

    Concealed a grudge to spread their schemes.

  11. كأن السري وتركأني ارومة

    كأن النوى نون كأن الفلابحر

    As if the night were a silent garden,

    Its branches, stars, its blooms, the moon.

  12. كأن هجير البيد والآل ضمنه

    ضمائر ذي حقد يفر بها المكر

    As if the horizon were a field for warriors

    Grasping their spears within its expanse.

  13. كأن الدجى روض اصم نباته

    واغصانه حو وازهاره الزهر

    As if the crescent, made of ivory,

    Takes aim with its arrows throughout the ages.

  14. كان امتداد الأفق ارض لقايس

    بكف الثريا مد في درعها شبر

    As if the glow of Mars and fair Venus

    Covered their beauty, captivating all who looked upon them.

  15. كأن الهلال المستدير حنية

    من العاج يرمينا بأسهمها الدهر

    As if the Pleiades were parted in their arrangements,

    Having wandered off confused on some destined journey.

  16. كأن سنا المريخ وجنة غادة

    يغطى سوى حافات حمرتها الحمر

    As if Sirius led his army's vanguard,

    Bent on killing, captive-taking and plunder.

  17. كأن ضياء المشتري غرة جلا

    محاسنها فرع وجال بها البشر

    As if Aldebaran marched bravely forth

    While the cowardly fled in their terror.

  18. كأن افتراقاً في بنيات نعشها

    وقد ضلهن السير في مهمهٍ سفر

    As if Vega's intellect poured down to Earth

    Having abandoned the night through separation's sorrow.

  19. كأن سهيلاً في طلائع جيشه

    أخو فتكات همه القتل والأسر

    As if the twins' eyes saw only hardship

    In place of the ease their sight should bring.

  20. كأنسماكيه جبان ومقدم

    يدجج ذا عزم ويسلب ذا ذعر

    As if the Milky Way were a stream

    To ford, with the Pleiades lighting the way across.

  21. كأن السها صب للقيا ذكائه

    وقد هجرت ليلا فأنحله الهجر

    As if Altair spread his wings

    Seeking to build a bridge to aid his fallen state.

  22. كأن قرأن الفرقدين لناظر

    تملاهما عسر يقارنه يسر

    As if Gemini were silver cups

    Adorned at dawn by rays of gold.

  23. كأن به متن المجرة جدول

    من الماء والشعري العبور به عبر

    As if the dawn's first light amongst the fading dark

    Conjured meanings for minds to behold.

  24. كأن امتداد النسر فيها جناحه

    يروم به عوناً لواقعه جسر

    As if Alioth's generous hand

    Cast out penury, pouring forth white blessings.

  25. كأن به الجوزا أثافي فضة

    عليها لرسل الفجر من ذهب قدر

    As if my hopes were suspended in the balance

    While the barren earth awaited the rains.

  26. كأن ابتلاج الصبح في حالك الدجى

    لناظره معنى تخيله الفكر

    I look to glory openly now without a veil,

    With nothing but jewels to obscure the sight.

  27. كأن ابن سيفاضم جوداً يمينه

    واطلعها بيضاء فانصدع الفقر

    I marched against the foe while fortune served me,

    With the world at my command and victory before me.

  28. كأن اماني معتفيها على ظما

    وانعامها الارض الجديبة والقطر

    In battle the champions frowned to see me approach

    While I advanced smiling, untroubled, serene.

  29. غدا ناظراً للمجد من غير حاجب

    وليس سوى اللألاء من دونه ستر

    Success and safety were my companions,

    While the enemy knew only fear and loss.

  30. وسار إلى الأعداء يأتمه العلا

    وتخدمه الدنيا ويقدمه النصر

    They fled from the flash of my blade,

    For if it frowned, they fled, if it smiled, they ran.

  31. فتى الحرب تلقاه الكماة عبوسة

    فتثنى بواك وهو وضاح يؤفتر

    Can any enemy now conceal your might

    When to hide it would be a sin?

  32. كان المنى والأمن يصطحبانه

    وتصطحب الأعدا المخافة والخسر

    They scheme to disguise their weakness,

    Yet the ways of the desert brook no deception.

  33. وصرف الردي يقفو مواقع طرفه

    فأن غضه كرواوان حده فروا

    May God curse those who betray your trust,

    Who fail to praise you and give thanks,

  34. أمن بعدما اظهرت آلاءك التي

    بكتمانها غي واجحادها وزر

    Whose words of honor mask their villainy,

    Ever betraying those who called them friend.

  35. تروم العدا إضمار بأسك فيهم

    وفي مقتضى الأعراب لا يضمر الأمر

    Yours are the blessings, I foresee your rank

    Rising to the summit where glory awaits.

  36. لحا اللَه من لم يرع عهدك قلبه

    ومن لم يطل في فيه حمدك والشكر

    Those who seek your noble aims are assured,

    No darkness can conceal the coming dawn.

  37. ومن ينثني والغدر حشو إهابه

    ويا طالما استكفي بصاحبه الغدر

    O son of heroes, your deeds give life to praise

    And memories that endure through all time.

  38. لك الخير اني ناظر لك رتبة

    تناط بها العليا ويرقي لها الفخر

    In your glory we live, in your charity we thrive,

    In your mystery we die and in your dust our graves lie.

  39. وإن الذي يرجو معاليك زائل

    وأي ظلام ما أضاء به فجر

    The more your sweet words are repeated,

    The more they adorn both worlds and stir the passions.

  40. فيا بن الهمام الندب والذاهب الذي

    بأوصافه تبقى المحامد والذكر

    Be content this year and leave others to come,

    Live forever and keep your joy green.

  41. ومن مجده حي ومن جوده حيا

    ومن سره ميت ومن صدره قبر

    Let my words adorn you now with necklaces

    Of verse whose symmetry rivals the pearls.

  42. ومن كلما كررت طيب حديثه

    تحلت به دارين واشتاقه الشحر

    They could charm any who heard them recited,

    Maddening as wine, bewitching as Babylon’s sorcery,

  43. تهن بهذا العام وابق لغيره

    وعش ابد الأيام والعيش مخضر

    Confounding the elitist critic,

    Amazing the uncultured with their exotic beauty.

  44. ودم حالياً من منطقي بقلائد

    من الشعر يستزري بمنظمومها الدر

    You remain my secure fortune, no man

    Was ever disappointed who placed his hopes in you.

  45. بها من ربا نجد إذا نشدت شذا

    ومن عانةٍ خمر ومن بابل سحر

    I am the son of your endless generosity,

    Beyond counting or measuring.

  46. يعز على الطائي وشاحها

    وتغز وحشا الكندي الفاظها الغر

    I cannot be satisfied with any other's dominion,

    Does gilt compare to gold in worth?

  47. ولا زلت لي ذخراً فما خاب امرؤ

    له منك في أقصى مراداته ذخر

    Before you I battled the world once I understood it

    And drove it away, so it called me uncouth.

  48. أنا ابن أياديك التي طال عدها

    عليّ فلن تحصى ولم يمكن الحصر

    They see my actions as sinful,

    Like Moses, who doubted when Khidr destroyed the boat.

  49. وما أنا بالراضي لرقيَّ مالكا

    سواك وهل يغني عن الذهب الصفر

  50. وقبلك حاربت الورى مذ خبرتهم

    واقصيتهم عني فقالوا به كبر

  51. يريهم فعلي على انه النهي

    كما ارتاب موسى حين صاحبه الخضر
