أمعذبي وعذوبة الثغر الذي

أحرمتنيه يقنع المحروما

My tormentor torments me, and the sweetness of the lips that

ما كنت من يلقى هواك وإنني

ألقى به قلبا رآه جحيما

I was not one who met your love, yet

I cast upon it a heart that saw it as hell.

لولا فساد تصور العقل الذي

ظن الخصوص بأن يكون عموما

If not for the corruption of reason that

Thought exclusivity could become generality,

فعساك تسمح لي بقلب عيانه

لأكون شاهد حال إبراهيما

Perhaps you would forgive me for laying bare my heart

That I may witness the state of Abraham.
