1. أقول لحر ساءه الدهر والنوى

    وشوش منه الفكر أي تشويش

    I say to one who's pained by fate and grief

    Whose thoughts are muddled in confusion

  2. إذا استصرخ الأيام أغضت ولم تجب

    بناظر مكفوف ومسمع أطروش

    If you cry out to days gone by, they ignore

    With blinded eyes and deafened ears

  3. عليك بقصد الأروع الورع الذي

    تملك رق المجد من آل حرفوش

    Strive for the finest virtue, most devout

    That rules with soft command and grace

  4. وهو الأكرم الوضاح موسى أبو الندى

    أمير المعالي والمكارم والجيش

    The noble, generous Musa Abu Nadda

    Prince of glory, bounty and army

  5. له ذروة الدار التي فضل الوري

    بادرا كها فضل الوقار على الطيش

    He is the peak of the abode, preferred

    Over haste’s excess by wise restraint

  6. ممنعة العلياء تلحظها ذكا

    بناظر مزعوج النواظر مدهوش

    A lofty refuge, whose rule is viewed

    With amazed eyes, startled and enthralled

  7. أرانا نواحي بعلبك كغادة

    من العدل في ثوب من لخصب منقوش

    He’s shown Baalbek’s lands like a meadow

    Clothed in justice and fertile peace

  8. وتشتاقه حمص الشام واختها

    تشوق منهاض الجناحين للريش

    Damascus and her sister Homs long for him

    As a bird longs to spread its wings and fly

  9. هنيئاً لمن يمسي ويصبح جاره

    له خير ملبوس واشرف مفروش

    Happy are those who live as his neighbors

    Blessed with fine clothes and beds adorned

  10. ولو كان من اعدائه جبل هوى

    وصار كعهن في البسيطة منفوش

    Were his foe a mountain of passions

    It would blow away like dust in the wind

  11. فلا زال في الدنيا ملإذا لقاصد

    يزجي آليه العيس في ارغد العيش

    Never ceasing for seekers of guidance

    To prepare the sweetest life’s feast

  12. على الدهر ما هبت صباً وتحرشت

    بأفنان زهر الروض الطف تخريش

    Fate has never gently blown a breeze

    Or rustled the garden’s blossoms so softly
