وبي مضاضة عيش مسني لغب

منها وساورني في سورها سغب

A life of hardship has burdened me,

And its shackles have caused me much grief.

حتى تصور لي منها على ظمأ

ان المنية في ثغر المنى شنب

Until it seemed, in my thirst,

That death lies waiting at my wish's spring.
