أقلني عثاري مرة بعد مرة

فأن عثار الأكرمين يقال

Lead me astray again and again

For to err is said to be noble

ولا تبلني حمل الحوادث عالماً

بصبري فأن الحادثات ثقال

And do not overwhelm me with the burden of events,

Knowing my patience, for happenings can be oppressive
