1. فرشت للربيع فينا مهاده

    فاستنارت حزونه ووهاده

    He spread out a bed for spring amongst us

    So its sorrows and calm were illuminated

  2. وتجلت عرائس الدوح تختال

    بوشي وسميه ابراده

    And the brides of the sand dunes appeared swaying

    In their beauty, perfection and radiance

  3. وكأن الشقيق شوقاً إليهن

    تلظى مما يجن فؤاده

    As if the anemones were aflame with yearning for them

    Burning from the torment in their souls

  4. ورنا النرجس الغضيض بلحظ

    صيغ من اصفر النضار سواده

    The narcissus hummed with a glance

    Cast in a hue of delicate yellowish black

  5. جزعا من زحام الوية الورد

    وقد طاب ورده ومراده

    Grieving the crush of roses

    Though its roses and wishes were fulfilled

  6. والأقاح النضير يفتر عن در

    نضيد يشتاقه نقاده

    The slender myrtle opened from a pearl

    That its critic desired from its delicate bend

  7. والخزامى قد ضاع حبا عليه

    من شذاها طريفه وتلاده

    The jasmine was lost in love for it

    From its gentle, graceful and tender branches

  8. وتغنى الهزار في عذبات

    البان فاهتز مائلا مياده

    The lilies sang in the soft patches

    Of dew, their stems tilting gently

  9. ينحني تحية ويحنو عليه

    كل عود كأنه عوَّاده

    Each bent reed bows in greeting and leans toward it

    As if it were its dear friend

  10. فالبدار البدار يا بدر للهو

    بروض مخضرة اعواده

    So enjoy, O full moon, the meadows

    In their verdant freshness

  11. لا تعدني بعيد بعدك وعداً

    آفة الصب وعده وبعاده

    Do not make me, after you, a promise

    That harms the lover, his promise, and his distance

  12. طالما نمت عن بكاي بطرف

    جاده نوء طرفه وسهاده

    How often have I slept, shedding tears

    While my eyelids poured them on my pillow

  13. دال صد المحب من صدغك الأعوج

    امضى ومن لحاظك صاده

    The crookedness of your cheek blocked the lover’s devotion

    Go on, and turn your glances away

  14. زادك اللَه رفعة انما صبك

    من صبره وصابك زاده

    May God increase your nobility, indeed your patience

    Molded you, and your resolve guided you

  15. داؤه في الهوى عداك عياء

    عد عنه لا ينتهي تعداده

    The disease of love for you is blindness

    Countless in number, ceaseless in recurrence

  16. مله العائدون مني وما

    اعضل داءً تملّه عواده

    The returnees are tired of me, and no

    Disease makes one weary as constant treatment

  17. مثل ما مل من سعادة مولانا

    ومن سوء بؤسهم حساده

    Just as they wearied of our master’s felicity

    And the wretchedness of his envious foes

  18. الوزير الخطير ركن بناء المجد

    في شامخ العلا وعماده

    They charted stars, zodiacs and orbits

    But God is victorious over their scheming

  19. مصطفى المصطفى لتدبير ملك

    الملك فيما به تحيط بلاده

    O clouds of gentle dew and heavy rains

    And valley amidst rugged peaks

  20. شامه اصلحت به وكذا آمد

    صينت وزخرفت بغداده

    He who is accustomed to bounty

    As eyelids are accustomed to rest

  21. ولنا الآن منه في حلب الشهباء

    أمن كجمعهم آحاده

    You see subjects bowing to his blessings

    As if in worship, their heads bent

  22. ولقد زارنا به الغيث واستقضاه

    عهداً بأن تدوم عهاده

    The awe which terrifies his enemies

    Is measured by what pleases and delights him

  23. بعد يأس أمضنا ومقالات

    أناس في كتبنا ميعاده

    He brings life to wishes by his generosity

    While death itself is his sword and steed

  24. رصدوا الأنجم الطوالع والأفلاك

    واللَه غالب مرصاده

    The brother of forbearance, with his gentle sides

    And strong limbs at rest

  25. يا غمام الندى الملث وضرغام

    وغي غابة عليه صعاده

    None have we seen but you, of perfect merit

    In whom contraries are reconciled

  26. والذي يالف النوال كما

    يألف طرف الخلى منا رقاده

    You have gained knowledge and distinguished resolve

    So God is pleased with your diligence and struggle

  27. فترى السن العباد على نعماه

    تثنى كأنها عباده

    You have elevated us with command and prohibition

    Tenderly, as if we were your children

  28. والمهاب الذي يروع أعاديه

    بمقدار ما يروق وداده

    Your humility has brought you honor from God

    Though you were lofty, a mountain set apart

  29. فهو يحي المنى بجدواه فينا

    والمنايا سيوفه وجياده

    Endure, O you whose righteous trade has thrived

    Among the noble, long has your eminence lasted

  30. وأخو الحلم من يلين بجنبيه

    وتمسي قوية أعضاده

    You eradicate injustice, itself a disease

    Which if forgotten will spread corruption

  31. ما رأينا الاك جامع فضل

    جمعت في صفاته أضداده

    Your justice has shaped an orderly age

    With no festivals or celebrations

  32. حاز علماً وامتاز عزماً فأرضى

    اللَه منه اجتهاده وجهاده

    In it night and day are equal

    As are barn and critic's tongue

  33. وبنا رفعة على الأمر والنهي

    حنواً كأننا أولاده

    For this, O peerless one, your merit

    Is beyond measure, thus your uniqueness

  34. ولقد عز من تواضع اللَه

    وإن كان في السماك وساده

    The whisperer of souls said to me

    Words that delighted listeners on recital

  35. وابق يا من تجاره طاب في

    العلياء كالمشرفي طال نجاده

  36. تحسم الداء والمظالم داء

    ان تناسيته يعم فساده

  37. واعتدال الزمان صوره عدلك

    لا مهرجانه ولا أعياده

  38. فيه الليل والنهار سواء

    وسواء آساده ونقاده

  39. ولهذا يا فرد دهرك فضل

    ليس يحصى وهكذا افراده

  40. قال لي هاتف الضمائر قولا

    لذ في مسمع الحشا ايراده
