أرى الدهر يظميني وأنتم غبوته

ويرهقني بؤساً ومنكم ليوثه

I see time oppressing me, while you are absent

And overwhelming me with misery, while you are its lions

ومن جاء ملهوفاً غريباً لبابكم

ولم يستغثكم في الورى من يغيثه

He who comes agitated and a stranger to your door

If he doesn't cry out for your help in the world, who will save him?
