كَمْ ذا التَّجَنُّبُ وَالتَّجَنِّي

كَمْ ذا التَّحامُلُ وَالتَّعَدّي

How oft this shunning, this offense!

How oft this burden, this excess!

أَتَظُنُّنِي لا أَسْتَطِي

عُ أُحِيلُ عَنْكَ الدَّهْرَ وُدِّي

Think you I cannot requite?

I can spurn you forever, readily!

مَنْ ظَنَّ أَنْ لا بُدَّ مِنْ

هُ فَإِنَّ مِنْهُ أَلْفَ بُدِّ

Who believes there's no help but flight

Finds himself in a thousand plights!
