And from a beauty whose wine cups kings would pray to,
So great was their awe and esteem of her face,
Her cheeks grew pale and her skin thin
As though whitened by the years,
And though the eyes of youth overflowed
For you with the nectar of Paradise sealed,
When her goblets were set beside you
The stars paled like stars next to stars,
She roams the meadows’ edges but has no orbit
Save my palm and that of my boon companion,
Till you’d think the sun’s light dimmed
And the earth quaked with one in fever’s delirium.
