والدارُ بعدَهُمُ مقسَّمةٌ
بينَ الرياحِ وهاتِفِ الوَدْقِ
The house after them is divided
Between the winds and telephone bells
درجَ الزمانُ على معارِفها
كمدارجِ الأقلام في الرقِّ
Time has stepped on its acquaintances
Like the steps of pens on parchment
لم يبقَ منها غيرُ أرمِدَةٍ
لُبِّدْنَ بينَ خوالدٍ وُرْقِ
Nothing remains of it but ruins
Patched among the spare stones
وسطورِ آناءٍ بعَقْوتِها
مَحْنوَّةٍ كأهلَّةِ المَحْقِ
And lines of vessels in its niche
Bent like the crescent moon
