A heart laden with the pangs of passion
Alive like a dead man, present yet lost
I tasted not the flavor of death in the cup of sorrow
Until she made me drink it, that graceful gazelle
Who can cure the heart of the disease of love
When no cure for passion exists
Or how can I ask for peace from one whose love
Is but a decree that brooks no repeal
While her heart finds peace and safety
Mine remains struggling and distressed
