1. أيَا مَنْ لَامَ في الحُبِّ

    وَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ جَوى قَلبي

    O you who blamed me for love

    And knew not the fervor of my heart

  2. مَلامُ الصَّبِّ يُغْويهِ

    وَلا أَغْوى مِنَ الْقَلْبِ

    The censurer is misled by passion

    I am not misled by the heart

  3. فَأَنَّى لُمْتَ في هِنْدٍ

    مُحِبّاً صَادِقَ الحُبِّ

    Whence did you blame me for love

    While in India, a true lover

  4. وَهِنْدٌ مَا لَها شِبْهٌ

    بِشَرْقٍ لا وَلا غَرْبِ

    For India is nothing like

    The East or even the West

  5. إِلى هِنْدٍ صَبَا قَلْبي

    وَهِنْدٌ مِثْلُها يُصْبِي

    To India my heart inclines

    And India is where it inclines
