Springs of youth once bubbled and scattered,

With saplings of early life and charm.

Like a branch in a garden of garlands

Swayed gently by zephyr and storm.

From it estrangement my phantom learned,

So it shuns me, and shuns my phantom's call.

And it turned away, till in death it spurned,

Denying my heart its memory's thrall.
