احذر بني من القران العاشر

وانفر بنفسك قبل نفر النافر

Beware my son of the tenth century,

And flee with yourself before the fleers flee.

لا تشغلنك لذة تلهو بها

فالموت أولى بالظلوم الفاجر

Let not the pleasure that preoccupies you,

Death is more deserving of the unjust tyrant.

واسكن بلاداً بالحجاز وقم بها

واصبر على جور الزمان الجائر

And reside in the Hejaz lands and stand firm in them,

And be patient with the injustice of the brutal times,

ولا تركنن إلى البلاد فإنها

سيعمها حد الحسام الباتر

And do not incline towards the lands for they

Will be filled with the cutting blades of sharp swords.

من فتية فطس الأنوف كأنهم

سيل طما أو كالجراد الناشر

By youths with smashed noses as if they are

A torrential flood or swarming locusts.

خزر العيون تراهم في ذلة

كم قد أبادوا من مليك قاهر

Green eyed whom you see humiliated

After they destroyed many a conquering king.

ما قصدهم إلا الدماء كأنما

ثار لهم من كل ناه آمر

Their only purpose is (spilling) blood as if

For them from every groan there is a commanding (force).

وخراب ما شاد الورى حتى

ترى قفراً عمارتهم برغم العامر

And ruins of what civilization has built so that

You see wastelands while its buildings (stand) defying the builders.

أما خراسان تعود منابتا

للعشب ليس لأهلها من جابر

As for Khurasan, its plants will return

To become grass with no protector for its people.

وكذا الخوارزم وبلخ بعدها

تضحي وليس بربعها من صافر

And so is Khwarazm and Balkh after it

(They) are sacrificed with no caller in their quarters.

والديلمان جبالها ودحالها

ورها ستخرب بعد أخذ نشاور

And the Daylam mountains and plains

And the face of Rayy will be destroyed after the taking of Nishapur.

والري يسفك فيه دم عصابة

من آل أحمد لا بسيف الكافر

And blood will be shed in the river of those

From the family of Ahmad, not by the swords of infidels.

وتفر سفاك الدما منهم كما

فر الحمام من العقاب الكاسر

And the blood shedders will flee from them as

Doves flee from destructive falcons.

فهو الخوارزمي يكسر جيشه

في نصف شهر من ربيع الآخر

So it is the Khwarazmian who will break his army

In half a month of Rabi al-Akhir.

ويموت من كمد على ما ناله

من ملكه في لج بحر زاخر

And he who relied on what he gained

Of kingship will die in an abundant sea.

وتذل عترته وتشقى ولده

لظهور نجم للذؤابة زاهر

And his family will be humiliated and his son will suffer

Due to the emergence of a star belong to the hyenas.

ويكون في نصف القران ظهوره

لكن سعادته كلمح الناظر

And its emergence will be in half the century

But its fortune is as quick as the glance of an onlooker.

وتثور أعداه علىه ويلتقي

يوعود منهزماً بصفقة خاسر

And his enemies will rise against him and he will meet

Promises retreating, defeated in a losing deal.

ويكون آخر عمره في آمد

يسري إليه وما له من سائر

And the last of his life will be in Amid

Marching to it while he has no possessions.

وتعود عظم جيوشه مرتدة

عنه إلى الخصم الألد الفاجر

And the greatness of his armies will return

From him to the hostile, unjust enemy.

وديار بكر سوف يقتل بعضهم

بالسيف بين أصاغر وأكابر

And the lands of the Bakr will kill some of them

With the sword, between young and old.

وترى بآذربيج بدو خيامه

نصبت لجاجاً من عدو كافر

And you will see the tents of their Bedouins

Erected brazenly by the pagan enemy.

تفنى عساكره ويفنى جيشه

متمزقاً في كل قفر واعر

His soldiers will perish and his army

Will tear apart in every barren desert.

والويل ما تلقى النصارى منهم

بالذل بين أصار وأكابر

And woe to the Christians from them

In humiliation, between young and old!

والويل إن حلوا ديار ربيعة

ما بين دجلتها وبين الجازر

And woe if they descend on the lands of Rabia

Between its Tigris and Jazira!

ويدوخون ديار بابل كلها

من شهرزور إلى بلاد السامر

And they will ravage the lands of Babylon all of it

From Shahrazur to the lands of Samarra.

وخلاط ترجع بعد بهجة منظر

قفراً تداوس باختلاف الحافر

And Khallat will return after splendor

To become ruins with the hooves of different horses.

هذا وتغلق أربل من دونهم

تسعاً وتفتح في النهار العاشر

This while Irbil closes its doors to them

For nine (days) and opens on the tenth day.

وبطون نينوه ويؤخذ مالها

ودوابها من معشر متجاور

And the abdomens of Nineveh will be taken

And its livestock from the gathered neighbors.

ولربما ظهرت عساكر موصل

تبغي الأمان ن الخؤون الغادر

And maybe the armies of Mosul will appear

Seeking security from the betraying villains.

فتراهم نزلا بشاطئ دجلة

ومضوا إلى بلد بغير تفاتر

So you see them camped on the banks of the Tigris

And they marched to a city without any reconciliation.

وترى إلى الثرثار نهباً واقعاً

ودماً يسيل وهتك ستر ساتر

And you will see Tharthar plundered

With blood pouring and violation of protected honor.

ويكون يوم حريق زهرتها

التي تأتيه مطر كبحر زاخر

And the day its flowers are burned

Which rain used to come to it like a roaring sea.

واحسرتاه على البلاد وأهلها

ماذا يكون وما له من ناصر

And what a pity for the country and its people!

What will happen and who can help it?

ولربما ظهرت عليهم فتية

من آل صعصعة كرام عشائر

And maybe youths will appear from

The honorable Sa’sa’a tribes.

يسقون من ماء الفرات خيولهم

من كل ظام فوق صهوة ضامر

Watering their horses from Euphrates’ water

Above every thirsty and faded meadow.

تلقاهم حلب بجيش لو سرى

في البحر أظلم بالعجاج الثائر

Aleppo will meet them with an army, if it marched

In the sea, it will darken with the swirling dust.

وإذا مضى حد القران رأيتهم

يردون جلق وهي ذات عساكر

And when the century's limit comes, you will see them

Repel Jalaq and it has soldiers.

يفنيهم الملك المظفر مثل

ما فنيت ثمود في الزمان الغابر

The victorious king will destroy them like

Thamud were destroyed in time long past.

ويبيدهم نجل الإمام محمد

بحسامه الماضي الغرار الباتر

And the son of Imam Muhammad will annihilate them

With his sharp, piercing, cutting sword.

ولربما أبقى الزمان عصابة

منهم فيهلكهم حسام الناصر

And maybe time will keep a group of them

So the supporter king will kill them.

والترك تفني الفرس لا يبقى

لهم أثر كذا حكم المليك القادر

And the Turks will destroy the Persians, no

Trace of them will remain, so ruled the Capable King.

في أرض كنعان تظل جسومهم

مرعى الذئاب وكل نسر طائر

In the land of Canaan their bodies

Will remain prey for wolves and birds.

وتجول عباد الصليب عليهم

بالسيف ذات ميامن ومياسر

And the worshipers of the cross will wander upon them

With the sword, with flags and standards.

يا ريع بغداد لا تحويه من

جثث محلقة ورأس طائر

O flood of Baghdad which cannot contain

The hovering corpses and scattered heads!

وكذا الخليفة جعفر سيظل في

أرض وليس لسبلها من خاطر

And so the Caliph Ja’far will remain

In a land with no goals for its paths.

وكذا العراق قصورها وربوعها

تلك النواحي والمشيد العامر

And so are Iraq’s palaces and prairies

Those regions and glorious buildings.

يفنيهم سيف القِران فيا لها

من سفرة أودت بمال التاجر

The sword of the century will destroy them. Oh what a

Feast that has ruined the merchants’ money!

والروم تكسره وتكسر بعدهم

عاماً وليس لكسرها من جابر

And the Romans will break them then destroy after them

A year with no one to repair their destruction.

تمحى خلافته وينسى ذكره

بين البرية صنع رب قادر

His Caliphate will be erased and his memory forgotten

Between the wilderness, the work of the Able Lord.

فترى الحصون الشامخات

مهدة لم يبق فيها ملجأ لمسافر

So you see the towering citadels

Declined with no refuge left for a traveler.

وتر قراها والبلاد تبدلت

بعد الأنيس بكل وحش نافر

And you see its villages while its lands have changed

After intimacy to every fleeing beast.
