1. بدأت بسم الله في نظم حسن

    أذكر ما جربت في طول الزمن

    I begin in the name of Allah to compose a beautiful poem

    I recount what I have experienced over the course of time

  2. ما هو بالطبع وبالخواص

    لكل عائم ولكل خاص

    This is of course for everyone in general and for each in particular

    In the sting of the scorpion is a twin star

  3. في شوكة العقرب نجم توأم

    تراه عين من يراه يعلم

    It is seen by the eye of whoever sees it, he knows

    If two people see it together and become companions

  4. إذا تراآه امرآن اصطحبا

    واتفقا وذا وذا تحابيا

    And agree while loving one another

    Especially if it is said this one loves that one

  5. لا سيما إن قيل ذا محبب

    بعض لبعض كوكبان كوكب

    Like two planets are one planet

    And twin stars in auspicious conjunction

  6. وتوأم نجمان في سعد بلع

    رؤيته لكل ود قد جمع

    Its sight brings love for all who have seen

    And likewise for the star of good fortune

  7. ومثله أيضاً لسعد الذابح

    رؤيته لكل ود صالح

    Its sight brings sincere affection

    Tell anyone you wish about it and they will be amazed

  8. تخبر من شئت به فيعجب

    ثم يقول كوكبان كوكب

    Then say two stars are one star

    So love arises, God willing

  9. فينشأ الود بإذن الله

    بينهما فلا تكن باللاهي

    Between them, so do not be heedless

    Like the bloodstained palm that separates for eternity

  10. كف الخضيب فرقة إلى الأبد

    لكائن من كان من كل أحد

    Anyone from all people

    A human sees it or a group

  11. ينظره الإنسان أو جماعه

    يفترقوا إلى قيام الساعه

    They separate until the coming of the Hour

    The star of misfortune, asylum from a thief

  12. نجم السها مأمنة من سارق

    ومن سموم عقرب وطارق

    And from scorpion venom and night visitor

    Whoever sees the star of misfortune in the evening

  13. ومن رأى عشية نجم السها

    لم تدن منه عقرب يمسها

    No scorpion will approach to sting him

    It is said no thief will come near him

  14. وقيل لا يدنو إليه سارق

    في سفر ولا بسوء طارق

    On a journey or with evil intention

    Coat the gums with wheat germ oil

  15. الطخ على الحزاز دهن القمح

    مع وسخ الأسنان بعد المسح

    With rubbing the teeth after rinsing

    It will take away their pain

  16. فإنه يذهب منها سعيها

    كالنار فيها ثم يوري نقيها

    Like fire in them, then show them clean

    Burn the heads of every rodent you see

  17. أكو رؤوس كل ثؤلول يرى

    بعودتين قد حرقت أخضرا

    With two green branches

    And likewise the heads of melon rinds

  18. ومثله رؤوس قش الحلبه

    تذهب بالثؤلول منه الرعبه

    Takes away their fear with smoke

    Scraping your nails after dawn

  19. تخطيطك الأظفار بعد الصبح

    بكزلك عرضا مزيل القلح

    Likewise, widthwise removes canker sores

    And covering your molars when yawning

  20. وطبقك الأضراس في التثاؤب

    يمنع من هذا لذي التجارب

    Prevents this for those with experience

    I mean canker sores, if they ulcerate

  21. أعني عروض القلح إن تقرحت

    كذاك إن تحفرت واصطلمت

    Likewise, if they scratch and wound

    The one with sore throat gargles

  22. يغرغر العليل ذو الخناق

    بمرق الضبار كالترياق

    With lizard broth, it is like an antidote

    Especially if it is mixed with licorice

  23. لا سيما إن شابه كشوث

    لذي الخلاط نفعه موروث

    Its benefit for one with a cold is inherited

    Swallow a dirham's weight of soap

  24. ابلع من الصابون رزن درهم

    تنج من القولنج غير المحكم

    You will be saved from improper speech

    And wipe on the teeth and molars

  25. وامسح على الأضراس والأسنان

    لو كالها بطرف اللسان

    As if brushing them with the tongue

    And abstain from eating horse meat

  26. وقد حرمت الأكل من لحم الفرس

    شهراً ولا من هندبا تبغي الحرس

    For a month, nor cigars which the guards desire

    That is at the sighting of the crescent

  27. وذاك عند رؤية الهلال

    فتأمن الأضراس من أعلال

    So the molars are safe from defects

    Likewise at every appearing crescent

  28. كذاك في كل هلال يجتلى

    فإنها مأمنة من البلا

    For they are safe from decay

    Do not wash your linen clothes

  29. لا تغسلن ثيابك الكتانا

    ولا تصد فيها كذا حيتانا

    Nor pack whales in them

    When the two rivers meet, they wear out

  30. عند اجتماع النيرين تبلى

    وفي السرار فاتخذه أصلا

    So take this as a principle

    Make a flask of glass

  31. اتخذ البرمة من زجاج

    من غير تلوين ولا علافي

    With no coloring or alloy

    And ample burning coal or charcoal

  32. والنار جزل إن تشا أو فحم

    ينضج فيها اللحم ثم الشحم

    Cook the meat then the fat in it

    And repeat cooking in it for days

  33. وكرر الطبخ بها أياماً

    وأشهراً إن شئت أو أعواما

    And months, if you wish, or years

    This is easy, not difficult

  34. وذاك سهل ليس بالعسير

    من غير تقتير ولا تكثير

    Without stinting or exaggeration

    And make a new, burnt antimony

  35. وتتخذ كحلا جديداً محرقا

    منعماً مصولا مروقاً

    Refined, filtered, and sifted

    And likewise from Indian stone

  36. ومثله من حجر الهنود

    ذي الخاصة الجاذبة الحديد

    With magnetic quality, attracting iron

    Perfumed with excellent musk

  37. مطيباً بالمسك طيب الإثمد

    وأكحل به من شئت فرد مردود

    And line with it whoever you wish, it will be effective

    Then line with it continually

  38. ثم اكتحل منه على مر المدى

    لأنه لم يتخذ كحلا سدى

    For it is not made in vain

    And line the beloved's eyes with the iron

  39. واكحل المحبوب بالحديد

    يهواك في الوقت بلا مزيد

    He will love you at once, without increase

    Bewitching his eyes so he sees

  40. فيسحر العينين منه فيرى

    وجهك شمساً باهياً أو قمرا

    Your face as a brilliant sun or moon

    He can barely restrain himself from you

  41. ولا يكاد يستطيع صبراً

    عنك ولو حرقت منه الصحرا

    Even if the desert is burnt because of you

    Baths' smoke kills snakes

  42. نشادر الدخان بالحمام

    ينضحه الفخار من مسام

    Released from the terracotta pores

    Its odor kills snakes

  43. فريحه يقتل الأفاعي

    من الهوام والدبيب الساعي

    Of animals and roaming germs

    And a mithqal weight, when imbibed

  44. ووزن مثقال إذا ما شربا

    مع وزنه من الرجيع انتخبا

    With its weight of purslane, chosen

    Saves the poisoned from his death

  45. يخلص المسموم من مماته

    من بعد يأس الأمر من حياته

    After despair of the matter of his life

    This is if it is prepared well

  46. هذا إذا دبر بالإتقان

    بالسحق والترويق في الأواني

    By pounding and mixing in vessels

    And consider whatever is pounded, and understand

  47. وكل ما جاد بسحق فاعتبر

    وفيه يا هذا تفهم واختبر

    In it, O you, contemplate and examine

    Viper bitterness is a deadly poison

  48. مرارة الحية سم قاتل

    وهي لملدوغ بها تقابل

    It counters the sting for the bitten one

    If the poisoned is given a seed of it to drink

  49. إذا سقي المسموم منها حبه

    نجا من السم بتلك الشربه

    He is saved from the poison by that drink

    But if a healthy person drinks it, he dies

  50. وإن سقي منها صحيح ماتا

    من يومه وفارق الحياتا

    The day he drinks it and leaves life
