1. نَهرٌ كَأَنَّ الشَمسَ تَملَأُ قَلبَهُ

    فَيُجِنُّ داءً لِلغَرامِ دَخيلا

    A river as if the sun fills its heart

    So it suffers illness for the sake of passionate love

  2. الريحُ تُبدي الثَوبَ مِنهُ مُعَكَّراً

    وَالشَمسُ تُلقي صارِماً مَصقولا

    The wind reveals its garment wrinkled

    And the sun casts a polished sword

  3. وَكَأَنَّهُ ذو فَجعَةٍ لِفِراقِها

    قَد ضَمَّ مِن خَوفِ الوَداعِ غَليلا

    As if it is grieving from parting with her

    It has gathered from fear of farewell a friend
