وَنَحوَ مَغانيكُم تَلَفَّتَ ناظِري

My heart yearns for you every hour

And my eyes turn toward your melodies

وَما عَرَضَت لي خَطرَةٌ مُذ بَعُدتُم

فَلَم يَكُ إِلّا نَحوَكُم عَفوَ خاطِري

Since we parted, my thoughts are only of you

My heart can think of nothing else

وَإِنّي لَخَفّاقُ الفُؤادِ كَما بَدا

نَسيمُكُمُ مِن نَحوِ سَلعٍ وَحاجِرِ

My heart flutters like a banner

When the breeze blows from your dwellings

وَلِلَّهِ ما يُبديهِ جِدُّ حَديثُكُم

بِقَلبِيَ مِن سِرِّ الهَوى في مَحاجِري

By the intensity of our conversation

My heart reveals its secret passions

أَلا يا سَقى اللَهُ الجَزيرَةَ إِنَّها

لَأَهلٌ لِأَن تُسقى بِدَرِّ المَواطِرِ

O may God water the peninsula -

It deserves to be watered by abundant rain

وَلِم لا وَقَد حازَت مِنَ الفَضلِ جُملَةً

يُقَصِّرُ عَن أَوصافِها كُلُّ شاعِرِ

Why not, when its nobility has brought it

Beyond any poet's power to describe

لَطائِفُ آدابٍ فُكاهَةُ مَجلِسٍ

مَوائِدُ أَمثالٍ نَوادِرُ أَشعارِ

Witty, cheerful gatherings

Feasts of proverbs, rare poems

سَرائِرُ آياتٍ حَبيتُ بِفَضلِها

تَبين لِما خَصَّت بِهِ قُدرَةَ الباري

Secrets of signs I love because of them

Reveal the power God has given

وَكَيفَ أَصبِرُ عَنكُم بَعدَ مَعرِفَتي

أَن لَيسَ لي عِوَضٌ مِنكُم وَلا بَدَلُ

How can I be patient without you

When I know I have no substitute

إِذا نَشَطتُ لِشَخصٍ في مُعاشَرَةٍ

جَرَّبتُهُ فَثَنى عَن وُدِّهِ الكَسَلُ

If I seek out someone's company

Weariness draws them from affection
