A harbinger of good news for your distressed, of relief,
O you who smiled from a pearl and from a stream,
My witnesses are the stars of nightfall testifying for me,
If you do not visit while the night beasts profit,
The sword, the arrow and the scale came from you
Into my temples, my eyelids and my protruding ribs,
The illness of passion in my heart has no cure
Except the lips of union from your radiant mouth,
For God's sake, ask your pearly mouth about my thirst
And your cool sweet saliva about my ardor,
What can I do with my soul that perished in love
If you are not there for my lament and refuge,
I spent my night cutting it with the sword of Suhad till it became
From a glance of your coyness, a fleeting pilfering slave,
Long has the night been as you deserted
That I imagined dawn does not come
