كانت مُساءلَةُ الرُّكبانِ تُخبرُنَا

عن جعفر بن فلاحٍ أطيَبَ الخبرِ

The questioning of the riders was telling us

of Ja'far bin Falah, the sweetest news,

ثمّ التقينا فلا واللّهِ ما سمعتْ

أُذني بأحسن مما قد رأى بصَري

Then we met, no by God, my ears have not heard

Better than what my eyes had seen
