1. لا يَطعَمُ البِيضُ إلاّ رأسَ ذي صَيَدٍ

    أو ساقَ أدماءَ فيها النِّقْيُ بُنيانُ

    Eggs are eaten only by the hunter’s head

    Or the shanks of a red deer where antlers are built.

  2. فهنّ للكُومِ في رأسِ القِرى عُقُلٌ

    وللرّؤوس غَداةَ الرَّوعِ تِيجانُ

    Around the refuse heap at the head of the village circle flocks,

    And for heads on the morning after fright, crowns.
