يا مِسكَةَ العَطّارِ

وَخالَ وَجهِ النَهارِ

O perfume seller's vial

And cheek of daylight's hour

وَلَعبَةً أَحكَمَتها

عِنايَةُ النَجارِ

A toy crafted meticulously

By the carpenter's care

مِن آبَنوسٍ تُسَمّى

بِاليُمنِ بَينَ الجَواري

Named for ebony it's made

The fairest of the fair

وَأَطيَبَ الناسِ ريقاً

لِمُغتَدٍ وَلِسارِ

And sweetest breath of all

For those who kiss and err

وَلَيسَ ذا بِعَجيبٍ

وَلَيسَ في ذا تَماري

No strange thing this may be

No need in it to compare

لا تَشرَبِ الخَمرَ إِلّا

مَبزولَةً مِن قارِ

Drink no wine unless it poured
