1. أَنعِم بِتينٍ طابَ طَعماً وَاِكتَسى

    حُسناً وَزانَ مَخرَجاً مِن مَنظَرِ

    A soft fig, sweet in taste and gaining

    Beauty, issuing forth, seen from afar

  2. في بَردِ ثَلجٍ في نَقا تِبرٍ وَفي

    ريحِ العَبيرِ وَطيبِ طَعمِ السُكَّرِ

    In icy snow, or plains of soft clay, or

    Winds of perfume and tastes of pure sugar,

  3. يَحكي إِذا ما صُبَّ في أَطباقِهِ

    خَيماً ضُرِبنَ مِنَ الحَريرِ الأَحمَرِ

    Relates, when poured into porcelain bowls,

    Tents pitched of crimson silken cloth unfurled.
