1. O Lord, preserve the guardian of Hashim’s dynasty,

    and set over him a shield of noble virtues.

  2. Whence could his equal come? I see none abiding

    in what is yet to be, nor do I see one in ages past.

  3. It is as though he vied with his father and grandfather,

    since in all creation he found no peer to vie with.

  4. By my life, those two stood exalted above mankind,

    and above them both—beyond doubt—he has risen.

  5. May he ever abide amid blessings newly bestowed upon him,

    and blessings of old that remain upon him just as they are.
