My secret of love has now spread abroad,
and I have become a slave, utterly submissive in love.
Do not reproach me—for I have grown weary of you;
withhold your counsel, for it has gone to waste.
A fawn has destroyed my hope by breaking his word,
casting a glance, deceptive in its promise,
renewing it for union while wearing it threadbare.
May I be his ransom, whether he gives or withholds!
