يا ظالِمَ الفِعلِ وَمَظلومَ النَظر
وَيا كَئيباً وَقَضيباً وَقَمَر
O cruel in deed, yet wronged in gaze,
And O melancholy one—slender bough and moon,
قُدِّرتَ لي فَحَبَّذا هَذا القَدَر
وَإِن مَلَأتَ العَينَ دَمعاً وَسَهَر
You were decreed for me—how welcome is this decree,
Even though you fill my eye with tears and sleeplessness.
