يا راكِباً فَوقَ بَغلٍ
لِلأَرضِ مِنها دَوِيُّ
O rider astride a mule,
the earth booms beneath her;
لَهُ إِذا ما تَمَشّى
قَفاً إِلَيها شَهِيِّ
whenever she begins to amble,
your nape yearns for the ground.
يُعَرِّفُ الرَسمَ مِنها
شِسعٌ عَلَيها خَفِيِّ
Her track is betrayed
by a hidden sandal-thong she wears.
بِما تَتيهُ عَلى النا
سِ قُل لَنا يا شَقِيِّ
What makes you lord it over peo—
—ple? Tell us, you wretch!
