    أَلحاظَ ذي فَرَحٍ بِالعَتبِ مَسرورِ

    Don't you see the narcissus gazing at us

    With looks of joy and coquetry

  2. كَأَنَّ أَحداقَها في حُسنِ صورَتِها

    مَداهِنُ التَبرِ في أَوراقِ كافورِ

    As if its dark eyes in the beauty of its form

    Were kohl pencils in camphor leaves

  3. كَأَنَّ طَلَّ النَدى فيهِ لِمُبصِرِهِ

    دَمعٌ تَرَقرَقَ مِن أَجفانِ مَهجورِ

    As if the dew dripping on it for its observer

    Were tears welling from forsaken eyelids
