1. وَمُدامَةٍ يَكسو الزُجاجَ شُعاعُها

    كَالخَيطِ مِن ذَهَبٍ إِذا ما سُلَّتِ

    And a goblet whose radiance clothes the glass

    Like threads of gold when spin it has been cast

  2. حُبِسَت وَلَم تَرَ غَيرَها في دَنِّها

    فَتَقَصَّرَت مِن نَقشِها وَتَخَلَّتِ

    Sequestered, seeing naught but its own class,

    So from its decoration it falls fast.

  3. قَد حَثَّني بِكُؤوسِها ذو غُنَّةٍ

    صامَت لَهُ صَومَ المَلامِ وَصَلَّتِ

    One deep in revelry has urged me on

    To silent fasts of blaming and contest.
