If I do not give freely of wealth, Time will give it away

to my heir, while my hand lies empty in its grave.

I used to fear poverty, though God guarantees

my provision; after that, what excuse is there for miserliness?

So let my hand rain down the torrent of its generosity

upon the people, until rain and sea alike marvel.
