رُبَّ رَكبٍ عَرَّسوا ثُمَّ هَبّوا
نَحوَ إِسراجٍ وَشَدِّ رِحالِ
Many a mounted caravan camped for the night, then sprang up,
bent on saddling up and tightening their camel-saddles.
وَعَدونا فَوقَ مَتنِ نِياقٍ
تَأخُذُ الأَرضَ بِأَيدٍ عِجالِ
And we sped upon the backs of she-camels
whose swift forelegs seized the earth.
زَيَّنَتها غُرَرٌ ضاحِكاتٌ
كَبُدورٍ في وُجوهِ لَيالِ
Smiling white forehead-blazes adorned them,
like full moons upon the faces of nights.
