شَيئَانِ لا يَجِدُ المُشتَمُّ بَينَهُما
فَرقاً وَما بِهِما فَقرٌ إِلى طيبِ
Two things the reviled finds no difference between,
And neither needs pleasantness:
شُمَّ الحَبيبِ وَريحُ الراحِ بَعدُ وَلَم
أَحكُم بِذَلِكَ إِلّا بَعدَ تَجريبِ
The scent of the beloved, and the wind of the riding camel after departure,
And I judged this only after experiencing it.
