يا جافِياً مُستَعجِلاً بِالقِلى

لَم يَبقَ لي مِن بَعدِهِ باقِيَه

O you who are hastening the boiling of the coffee,

Nothing remains for me after it but the grounds.

قَد كانَ لي فيما مَضى واصِلاً

فَقَد دَهَتني عِندَهُ داهِيَه

You used to be a constant visitor in the past,

But now your forgetfulness has distanced you from me.

وَطالَما اِستَسقَيتُ مِن ريقِهِ

وَكَم لَهُ مِن زَورَةٍ خافِيَه

And many times I sipped from your saliva,

And how many hidden tricks you have!

وَغَمزَةٍ مِن كَفِّهِ كُلَّما

صافَحتُهُ نافِعَةً شافِيَه

And pinches from your hand whenever

I shook your hand brought healing to me.

حُبُّكَ لي في سَقَمٍ دائِمٍ

لَكِنَّ حُبّي لَكَ في عافِيَه

Your love for me is during constant sickness,

But my love for you is during wellness.
