إِنّي غَريبٌ بِدارٍ لا كِرامَ بِها
كَغُربَةِ الشَعرَةِ السَوداءِ في الشَمَطِ
I am a stranger in a house without hospitality
Like the strangeness of a single black hair on white skin
ما أُطلِقُ العَينَ في شَيءٍ أُسَرُّ بِهِ
وَلَستُ أُبدي الرِضا إِلّا عَلى السَخطِ
I cast my eyes on nothing with delight
And I express no contentment except with discontent
