أَهلاً بِزائِرِ عامٍ مَرَّةً أَبَداً
لَو كانَ مِن بَشَرٍ قَد كانَ عَطّارا
Welcome, visitor of a year never to return
If he were mortal, he’d be a perfume-seller
كَأَنَّما صَبَغَتهُ وَجنَتا خَجَلٍ
قَد حَلَّ عَقدَ سَراويلٍ وَأَزرارا
As if modesty dyed and nurtured him
He undid the knot of trousers and buttons
فَلَو رَآهُ حَبيسٌ فَوقَ صَومَعَةٍ
لَقالَ في مِثلِ هَذا فَاِدخُلوا النارا
If a recluse in his cloister saw him
He'd say, for the likes of him, into the fire!
