قُم يا نَديمي مِن مَكانِكَ وَاِقعُدِ

حانَ الصَباحُ وَمُقلَتَي لَم تَرقُدِ

My friend, arise from your place and sit down

The dawn has come, yet my eyes did not rest

أَمّا الظَلامُ فَحينَ رَقَّ قَميصُهُ

وَأَرى بَياضَ الفَجرِ كَالسَيفِ الصَدي

As for the darkness, when it shed its shirt

I see the whiteness of dawn like an unsheathed sword
