Why is my beloved melancholy in thought

Though his beauty and adornment have faded

And his cheek has repelled his charms

Like a smooth rock that deflects its blow

Do you think his illness comes from his love for me

O Lord, heal his body of its affliction

Whether he is angry, I will not endure his anger

Or asking, I will not grant his request
