O you who makes promises of favors

Yet withdraws when I ask, where is the promise?

Modesty's dyer stays blushing in his cheek

Tired, at times turning yellow, at others turning red

What harm would it do you to console a lover

Restless, roused and rested by his passion for you?

Eyes find their sleep and his sleep

Till dawn a pleasure not to be found

And when the hated night grows short for him

He has a long-lived night that has no end
